nostalgia.

there's not much that makes me miss high school but seeing this picture while scrolling through facebook did. i recorded my fastest 50m swim time here - 24 seconds. cif swim prelims and finals were held at this pool in long beach, california. now it's closing

my first year there (wowza, when i was a freshman) i didn't swim (i went as a sub, in case one of the older girls in the relays had something happen) but i got to experience the incredibly sketchy hotel that the boys coach had been going to forever. and by forever i mean probably since the sixties. the boys team stole our underwear from our rooms, part of a series of endless pranks that were a tradition during the season, and hung them in the hotel's palm trees. we took pictures of ourselves in their "yellows". but that's another story entirely.

the main pool that you can see was the warm up area. the other side of that yellowish wall was the racing pool. nothing makes you feel quite as badass as a full leg racing suit that you spent 30 minutes putting on and will take off after your less than 1 minute race. swimming is so weird. oh but i miss that crazy adrenaline rush that being the final leg of a neck and neck relay race can bring.

and speaking of sports and adrenaline - tonight is the opener for the lakers. bring it on basketball season!
go lakers!

happy tuesday!
