geek out.

one of my very favorite things about my time at the office is getting to geek out with the owner over historical slo things. he has piles of historical photographs, postcards, etc. floating around the office that i get to explore and learn all about. i'm in heaven.

for example...

did you know this hotel - the one at the edge of town, before you start going up the grade - is the first motel in the u.s.

and that no one knew what a motel was - only a hotel - so they designed the sign as shown and it flashed between the m and h when lit up.
