despite the shocking fact that darryl had never seen the golden gate bridge, he was of course full of random facts about it. such as - the bridge was originally painted a golden yellow but due to rust it turned the red orange hue that people recognize it for today. now it's painted that color and known as such but that's where the name golden gate came from.
sometimes i think i'm dating a walking encyclopedia. it's like this with virtually everything. especially sports and even more specifically football. the most surprising part of knowing darryl is how he's gotten into my mind and made me actually interested in football. who would have thought? i suppose with him being a former cal poly football player and his dad being an ex-Raider player if was sort of inevitable.
much of the trip was spent watching games. i ventured into a buffalo wild wings, wing stop and elephant bar for the first time in the name of football. i also suffered a minor wing addiction. and learned that the elephant bar has a superb happy hour. 3$ margaritas? maybe i savored that a little too much.
every time i head up to this city i'm struck by just how much there is to do. and that you need a game plan or most of the day will be spent laying in bed being sung to. alcatraz is definitely on the list to see next time.
