darryl let me choose where i wanted to go to dinner on my birthday and {bless his soul} didn't call me a crazy person when i said The Cheesecake Factory in downtown san francisco.
the place was packed and we waited probably an hour for our table. with a full bar available this wasn't the worst thing in the world and i got to hear darryl say the word chicken about fifteen times as he read the menu to me. it was dimly lit and i had a margarita in my hand.
dinner was incredible. we got tex mex rolls for appetizers. i had shrimp scampi, most of which i brought home and chocolate cheesecake. such a beautiful evening which was spiced up by our cab ride home. our driver thought it would entertaining to tell us tales of how many times he'd flipped a cab or crashed into other people and how many people he would like to murder. nervous laughter abounded in that cab ride home and we emphatically expressed that we weren't tourists.
and a brief explanation for the pictures - the ones showing saks are the view from the restaurant. the one with the signage is the lobby and yes - it was that packed if not more. and no we didn't sit outside but it looked so gorgeous that i had to include a picture. maybe next time.
so thank you darryl for such an amazing birthday. i'm a lucky girl.
