the eggroll adventure.
much to my dietary downfall, over the weekend i discovered egg rolls. darryl came into town for the weekend and in a need to prove that i'm a better cook than he is (both in quantity and quality), i made a delectable four course meal. which began with tex mex eggrolls. the recipe was a knockoff from the mind blowing appetizers that we got at cheesecake factory for my birthday. i can't say these were as good as cheesecake factory's but that might have been because i wasn't 1 vodka cranberry strong and a margarita deep. and because it was my first time making homemade eggrolls.
but those little devils taste good with pretty much anything in them, including the dipping sauce that was supposed to be a side to the fried up eggrolls. yesterday, due to work being canceled, the eggroll adventure continued and i realized that the dipping sauce is really better off stuck inside these bad boys.
for your own cooking endeavors, here's the recipe, Tex Mex Eggrolls
and also check out this ridiculously yummy soup, that i made as my second course. the post + pictures are adorable and the soup is to die for. Spicy Sausage, Potato & Kale Soup i haven't yet dived into the rest of the blog but it's likely to happen in the near future.
course three and four were family recipes (chicken parmesan & apple crisp) which are of course top secret and cannot be revealed via the internet!

in other news, darryl and i hit up sycamore mineral springs, where i discovered his fear of all things feathered and flying. (we were joined by turkeys)
got to try buena tavola, which i walk past on my way home from work and have been dying to try.
exercised some self control and did not bring home a feisty little cat.
became utterly obsessed with the walking dead after watching the first episode with darryl before he left. and then the rest of the first season and part of the second when work got canceled yesterday. i lead a wild life, i know.
and that's where i'm at on this tuesday folks. hope you're enjoying some sunshine, even if it's not from the gorgeous porch of the peppered palm.
