the switch.
less than a month ago i was a die hard coffee addict. let me expand on that. see this picture up here. see how there's two cups of coffee? nope that's not because i'm enjoying a leisurely morning in conversation with a friend. it's because the two different cups had different temperatures - perfect drinkable warmth and the thermal reading of hell. once one cup was finished, the other would be at the perfect drinking temperature. i had it down to a science. i drank so much coffee that i stopped buying cream because buying the coffee was expensive enough. which of course gave me the refined *read coffee snob* air of being able to order "no room please" when i found myself out of the house caffeine less.
my name is katherine and it's been approximately 22 days since i've had a cup of coffee. i can now have pleasant conversations in the morning immediately after i wake up. (well, maybe that's not true) not stumbling to the kitchen to fill the coffee pot is pretty weird, i won't lie. now i stagger to turn on the tea kettle. yes, i've become one of those "tea" people. i've never been very good at completely giving up anything. i usually just make substitutions. this time it's tea for coffee. we'll see if it sticks for the school quarter, the occasional cup of java might slip in there. i do feel like i have more genuine, self propelled energy now. but that could be from a plethora of other lifestyle changes that have been going down in kat town. this is a transition i never would have foreseen though. oh baby, baby it's a wild world.
happy monday!
