the dead and dying.

i caught these guys on my neighbors roof a couple days ago, opening and closing their massive wings in the sun to warm up. coming home this afternoon from shooting for my first photography assignment amid overcast skies and teeth chattering, cold wind - i'm thinking they had the right idea as i'm opening my body up to the warmth of my oven.

shooting outside isn't very fun when the hills and surrounding shrubbery are dead and dying from the lack of rain the central coast has experienced so far this "winter" season. and while i love a cold, cloudy saturday afternoon as much as the next person, i'd gotten my hopes up for sunny skies and warmer temps after a resident at work this morning promised me sunny, pleasant weather at the beach today. she also claimed the reason there was fog on the central coast was from the stacks in morro bay and diablo power plant. after driving out to los osos to enjoy tea and a solid starbucks study session (thanks uncle joe and linda!) all i have to say is - lier, lier, pants on fire. i think we can go ahead an assume her fog theory is false as well.

now that the oven is heating up my house, feeling has been returned to my fingers and i've enjoyed several delightful tangerine "cuties" i'm ready to hit the books for another few hours. then i'll fall blissfully into cold weather coziness. for me that demands leftover pizza and an action thriller in company with my withering christmas tree (yes, it's still up).

happy saturday!
