inevitables.

one of the inevitables of going away for the weekend is that nothing remotely academic gets done. which means i'm back on the grind today after an intense evening of cleaning last night.

but the weekend was well worth it. darryl and i were planning on hitting up alcatraz but quickly realized we wouldn't be able to due to the government shut down. {have i mentioned how mad that makes me? passionately, shoe stomping mad, i'll tell you that much} so we lounged around in laziness for much of the weekend. no complaints here.

highlights included :

(1) going out to korean bbq which was beyond cool. all you can eat, all you can drink. we each had warmers that cooked our individual broth pots while we put in all sorts of raw ingredients in. meat, veggies, noodles. endless amounts of that plus endless beer pitchers, soju (which is a kind of weaker korean vodka) and sake. i was a happy camper.

(2) darryl's apartment acquiring a coffee maker. no more morning stomps to starbucks.

(3) lots of trips to buffalo wild wings. and darryl being the best by going back to get my id when i forgot it. because what good are wings without beer?

lowlights included :

(1) discovering that ihop does not have bagels amid screaming children. their only redeeming quality was that they did have a bottomless pot of coffee that they left on the table. and lots of water. did i mention this was after the korean bbq night?

all that said i'm happy to be home at the peppered palm. and on the plus side i had a swell time purging my fridge of odds and ends to make this delectable lunch. benefits of not having class til 2pm.
