yesterday afternoon i was texting with kaytea when she asked me if i wanted to go see the avengers, midnight premiere, with her and some friends. i waffled a bit in my mind, a) i haven't been getting very consistent sleep this week b) i didn't have a group project meeting til 10am c) i should go to the gym before my meeting d) i've been wanting to see this movie. in theatres. e) to use the most common phrase of my peer group, YOLO (you only live once)
so i went for it. with the thought that this is probably the only time in my life that i'll be able to spur of the moment decide to go see a movie at midnight and be able to handle myself the next day with some grace and calm (and coffee, of course). and i'm so glad i did. the movie was excellent, there were some definite laugh out loud moments, which i appreciated since super hero movies sometimes verge on being overly nerdy and serious.
this movie also falls into the theatre category (of my movie watching categories, re-read this blog post if you don't know what i'm talking about) and most definitely NOT the illegal laptop movie category. there was an appropriate amount of huge explosion scenes and wide angle battle shots. i'm not even a huge super hero nerd and i thoroughly enjoyed it. plus the atmosphere of a premiere is something i'll never get sick of. especially in small town slo. there's always a costume contest and i usually can attest to attending high school with the majority of the contestants. everyone cheers as each super hero makes his or her appearance in the movie. they cheer for the good guy, boo for the bad guy. it's infectious in the best way possible. and going with friends who make standing in line for a hour seem like nothing at all makes it even better.
happy friday!!
who da heck is that guy on the far right???
