a tale of three cats.
disclaimer : this is not my cat. (i wish it was though)
after recounting my adventures of yesterday morning to a friend i was told i should blog about it. and since i spent a good part of yesterday night hanging out and getting my hair cut by said friend, the lovely miss kaytea, who i went on this excellent roadtrip with, i haven't had time to blog til just now.
i suppose the adventure begins with me moving into my house illegally. it is debatable whether i should be even posting this on the internet but given that our landlord is not all that communication savvy, i believe it's safe. so i am the illegal fourth room mate. and our cats are the fifth and sixth illegals living in the house. this is not a problem until our landlord announces that he wants to have an open house. which means all the cats (kats, myself that is, and cats) need to have never existed in that household.
first that mean bringing my bed into the living room and transforming it into a "couch". given the appearance of my living room that was not hard at all. see my house to believe it. or see the pictures. you get it.
now making a person and two re-mark ably sassy, cute cats disappear was another issue entirely. the cats were meant to be handed off to their respective owners. that fell through. which meant that when i packed up my car with my extra belongings that needed to be taken out of the house, i was packing the cats in as well. along with their food, litter, etc.
driving with cats is an experience that can only be correctly portrayed by actually experiencing it. that said, i'll do my best to describe it. sadie mae and i once took her cat for a ride in the car during high school. it was gnarly. the cat was terrified, frantic, there were many claws. but my cats? first, i should start by saying that my cats are unlike any other cats i've ever met (and i'm not just saying that because they're mine. i've met many cats) both were quite set on being in my lap at the same time. which is probably not following the safety first rule when it comes to driving.
micah was content to sit in my lap meowing and crying and trying to ignore the windshield wipers. (oh yes, did i mention that it was pouring while all this was happening?) gahchino on the other hand, adamantly wanted to be on my lap, but while looking out the window, trying to catch the windsheild wippers (through the glass), and perching himself on the headrests. needless to say i was cracking up over the hilarity of the situation. which likely only caused other drivers to think of me as more insane (than the regular person that drives with their cats in the car).
surprisingly they did quite well in the car, sleeping on the pillows and blankets while i was at work. sidenote : there was food and water available to them, no need to call animal services on me. in a nutshell, gahchino loves car rides. although your safety might be seriously impaired while driving due to the fact that he's climbing on literally everything (you wouldn't think it possible while in a moving vehicle, but the cat's got balance). micah seemed to enjoy it just as much as she would enjoy sitting on your lap on the couch, perhaps that was her tactic for blocking out the experience.
in any case, i'm thankful my mom took them for the afternoon and that they did not get taken away from me while sitting in the car. oh, and that our house got signed for next year. which means no more open houses, and no more living out of my car with cats days.
happy thursday everyone!
