on making the best of it.

for my group project in my conflict resolution psychology class, we were asked to choose any group conflict. fictional. factual. light. heavy. absolutely everything was open. due to the fact that i have group projects in all of my classes. (which i detest in the extreme) i wanted to pick something light, something fun. perhaps rival donut shops.

but my input was overridden by the fact that the other members of my group seemed intent on doing a international conflict. the hutu / tutsi conflict was decided on, much to my dismay. i'd never seen hotel rwanda and was not interested in spending my quarter consumed by genocide facts.

however, last night i watched hotel rwanda, cried my eyeballs out. loved the movie. and realized that my previous attitude was naive and very much anti-educational. why should i be so against learning about international conflicts? yes they may be depressing and horrific. but they are important nonetheless. and my desire to sweep past them is ignorant.

meeting with my group this morning was the final straw in getting me excited to delve into this topic.

here's to making the best of it!

(if you haven't watched hotel rwanda, i highly suggest you do)
